These are challenging and stressful times for most people. We have had to adapt to new daily routines and as a result mental health issues have risen. Most people don’t realise that there is a connection between physical activity and mental health. Becoming more active or continuing to workout regularly has a number of positive benefits to a person’s mental health.
- Relieves Stress
- Improves Sleep
- Boots your mood
- Increases energy levels
- Increases self esteem
But there are a number of small steps you can take to help look after your mental health.
- Talk to a friend, relative or health professional
- Limit alcohol intake
- Have a well balanced diet
- Get enough sleep
- Do things you enjoy, i.e. take a bath, watch comedy, listen to music
- Take regular exercise, even if its just going for a walk
